I had been watching the weather for a few weeks, waiting for the right setup. To get out on the flats you need a light southerly with a bit of south east in it at height. It doesn’t happen to often. You need to skirt around airspace and then you can turn and burn so the first part of the flight is the hardest. I managed to get out to Rutherglen with plenty left in the day but unfortunately I would have to fly over Corowa and their airspace was particularly active that day so I landed at Rutherglen and will now wait for a few months for winter to be over and try again.
